Overview:As a Civil/Structural Designer specializing in Upstream Oil & Gas Projects, you\'ll play a pivotal role in the design and implementation of civil and structural components essential for the exploration and extraction of oil and gas resources. Your expertise will contribute to the development of safe, efficient, and cost-effective infrastructure to support drilling, production, and processing operations in challenging environments.Key Responsibilities: * Design Development: Collaborate with engineers and project managers to develop detailed designs for civil and structural components, including drilling platforms, well pads, pipelines, storage tanks, and support facilities. Utilize CAD software and structural analysis tools to create accurate 2D and 3D models.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations governing civil and structural design in the oil and gas sector, such as API, ASCE, and OSHA. Stay updated on changes in regulations and incorporate them into design specifications.
Site Evaluation: Conduct site surveys and assessments to evaluate geological, environmental, and topographical conditions that may impact civil and structural design decisions. Consider factors such as soil stability, seismic activity, and environmental regulations.
Structural Analysis: Perform structural analysis and calculations to assess the integrity, stability, and load-bearing capacity of civil and structural components under various operating conditions, including wind, waves, and seismic events. Ensure designs meet safety and performance requirements.
Material Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate materials for civil and structural elements based on project specifications, environmental conditions, and cost considerations. Consider factors such as corrosion resistance, durability, and lifecycle maintenance.
Interdisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and process engineering, to integrate civil and structural designs seamlessly into overall project plans. Resolve clashes and conflicts through effective communication and coordination.
Construction Support: Provide technical support during the construction phase, including reviewing contractor drawings, responding to RFIs (Requests for Information), and conducting site visits to ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential hazards and risks associated with civil and structural design elements, such as foundation instability, structural failure, and environmental impacts. Implement design measures to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of personnel and assets.
Documentation: Generate comprehensive documentation, including drawings, specifications, and technical reports, to support construction, installation, and commissioning activities. Maintain organized records of design changes and revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
At least 7 years experience with upstream oil and gas projects, including drilling, production, and processing facilities.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure is desirable.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and structural analysis tools (e.g., SAP2000, STAAD.Pro).
Strong knowledge of civil and structural engineering principles, codes, and standards relevant to the oil and gas industry.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities, with the capacity to collaborate across disciplines and interact with stakeholders.
