Allocate civil works to supervisors and senior foreman.
Assist department manager in the design, technical evaluation and selection, procurement, testing and commissioning of all DWD civil utility services and materials
Review all documents such as civil contracts, drawings, risk assessments, safety documents, tenders, and day-to-day civil activities as and when required.
Conduct inspection on all civil works activities as and when required.
Evaluate cost estimates; review financial status of ongoing projects
Prepare and make recommendation on budget requirements of the department.
Evaluate, interview and develop trade test to selected civil applicants.
Advise production and new build on the safe usage of berth and piers as per available as-built drawings and documentation.
Provide advice on the civil interface for potential New Build projects/Ship repair/Rig repair tenders.
Maintain and handle the drawing section of the yard including the archived design documents.
Ensure projects run smoothly and structures are completed within budget and on time.
Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labour to determine project feasibility
Conduct structural design, checks, and development of civil drawings to support construction activities of the yard.
Prepare cost estimates for project proposals to aid for Capex approval.
Facilitate the daily department duties (in the absence of department manager).
Maintain the archive records of the whole yard both drawings and civil design documents.
Quality Control of Construction works; supervise Surveyor and Works Inspector.
Member of the tender team that does the preparation, documentation and technical review
Intermittently handles the daily department duties whenever department manager is on leave.
Provide assistance to New build and Repair projects during actual execution at site.
Qualifications/Experiences
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
Has an extensive knowledge of concrete and steel structural works.
10+ years relevant experience in a shipyard, offshore / Oil & Gas industry / Civil engineering works.
Knowledge in concrete works for marine structures in the gulf region.
Computer literate (MS Office, MS Projects, AutoCAD, Structural Analysis Software).
