Manage the establishment of an in-house mechanical design capability to support the various development programmes
Manage the performance of simulation analyses for concept studies, detail designs, evaluations, and testing as and when required in the Mechanical engineering field
Undertake mechanical design and support work throughout the life-cycle of the system under development, for all phases of conceptual design, preliminary design, detail design and development, manufacture, production, end-use support and phase-out/disposal
Manage the performance of precise engineering calculations using theoretical methods as well as computational simulations
Manage the improvement designs based on analysis and interpretation of results
Devise, organize and ensure engineering arrangements and revisions
Oversee the establishment of processes and procedures to dictate the work flow required to develop, detail, and evaluate new concept designs as and when required
Manage the establishment of test specifications and procedures to ensure that all design requirements are met
Manage the evaluation of the performance of mechanical equipment against set performance requirements
Steer and support technical personnel reporting to your function to deliver on their responsibilities as designated by the Lead Engineer.
Mentor and monitor mechanical engineers
Manage the mentorship and monitoring of mechanical engineers
Scheduling of project related tasks and developing departmental project plans in conjunction with larger project/programme plans
Perform departmental employee performance assessment and feedback
Administration of employee well-being (leave management, timekeeping, etc.)
Establishment and maintenance of department structure and staffing requirements
Knowledge/Qualification & Experience
Minimum 20 years with a Bachelor\'s, 17 years with a Master\'s, or 15 years with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering Design or Analysis in an aerospace or military industry
Experience in UAE or Middle East is desirable
Proven experience in a broad spectrum of mechanical engineering development and manufacturing methods and processes
Experience in the application of CAE in the design process.
Experience in the design, analysis, and manufacturing of lightweight and composite structures as related to airborne systems
Experience in design, analysis, and manufacturing of medium and small mechanisms and actuators.
Experience in a leadership or management role with more than 15 reportees is critical
Bachelor\'s, Master\'s, or PhD degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or other related fields
Certification in mechanical Computer Aided Design (CAD) is advantageous
Certification in Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) is advantageous
A deep understanding of mechanical engineering principals related to structural design and analysis, thermodynamics, mechanics and mechanisms, composite structures, and aerospace systems
Ability to perform complex and precise engineering calculations using theoretical methods as well as computer based simulations
Ability to review designs and analyses for their suitability to requirements and application
Ability to interpret analyses and calculations and draw conclusions which can be used to influence and improve designs
Ability to provide feedback on designs and analyses to ensure adherence to requirements and design and analysis practices.
Proficient in the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (CREO/SolidWorks preferable)
Proficient in the use of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software (ANSYS preferable)
Proficient in the use of computer based mathematical tools (Matlab, Python, etc.)
Working knowledge of Military and Aerospace specific technical requirements e.g. best practice, legislation and regulation, methodologies, systems, third party providers
Proficiency in the English language, both written and oral
