Requirement:

Chemical Handler

Qualification:

Secondary school certificate (SSC) or equivalent

Iosh certification in chemical handler preferred

Experience:

2 years experience in power industry

2 years in chemical handling

Knowledge:

Identify various chemicals and hazards / chemical preparation / fork lift driving for shifting chemicals.

Language:

English (Read & Write - Mandatory)

Scope of Responsibilities

1. Prepares all the plants' chemical solutions under supervision for Boiler, Town Water, Distillers and Water Treatment. He maintains the account of daily chemical consumption - which involves approximately 100 chemical tanks at different locations and of various strength of chemical concentration.

2. Responsible to prepare anti scalant and Town water chemicals solutions on daily basis.

3. Clean strainers available with Chemical Dosing Pumps.

4. Keeping accounts of daily consumption of chemicals and assist chemical supervisor for movement of the bulk chemicals from stores to site.

5. Help to ensure safe working environment.

6. Report all accidents, near misses, and safety concerns to the Supervisor and EHS section.

7. Work as per procedure & best safety practice required to ensure safe EHS.

8. Stop operations that are in clear violation of the safety requirements, approved SOPs, or may potentially result in injuries or potential exposures to hazards.

9. Use personal protective equipment and engineering controls appropriate to their work

10. Report all unsafe conditions to supervisor or safety committee as soon as is reasonably possible.

11. Warn co-workers about defective equipment and other hazards.

12. Participate in health and safety training applicable to their work situation.

13. Participate in required site safety inspection and monitoring programs as and when required.

14. Must know, in case of emergency how to communicate with HSE & Plant Supervisor.

15. Works under the supervision of chemist.

16. Timely checking and filling of chemical storage tanks.

17. Fill the chemical storage tanks by unloading chemicals from tankers, IBCs/barrels or by adding powder chemicals in to the storage tanks.

18. Regular cleaning of storage tank area and draining the pits.

19. Required to operate hand pallet truck to shift chemical IBCs/Pallets in shot short distances.

20. Knowledge of overhead crane operations required.

21. Knowledge of forklift operation preferred.

22. Record and maintain the chemical stock available in local storage area.

23. Follow plant HSE policy.

24. Able to read chemical Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).

25. Understanding of chemical hazards and usage of PPEs.

26. Readily available for work during Fridays and National holidays.

27. Able to read, write and understand English.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 24 months

Pay: AED1,800.00 - AED2,500.00 per month
