Assist in the planning and execution of pastry and bakery menus, including desserts, pastries, bread, and other baked goods, in collaboration with the Executive Pastry Chef or Sous Chef.
Prepare and produce a variety of pastry and bakery items according to standardized recipes and established quality standards, ensuring consistency and excellence in taste and presentation.
Monitor inventory levels of pastry and bakery ingredients and supplies, and communicate with the purchasing department to ensure timely ordering and replenishment.
Supervise and coordinate the work of junior pastry and bakery staff, including commis chefs and apprentices, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
Ensure cleanliness and organization in the pastry and bakery production area, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas, in compliance with sanitation and safety regulations.
Monitor food quality and freshness, and take appropriate action to minimize waste and maximize product utilization.
Adhere to proper food handling and storage procedures to maintain food safety and prevent contamination.
Collaborate with other members of the culinary team to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations, coordinating efforts to meet service deadlines and guest expectations.
Stay informed about industry trends, new techniques, and innovative ingredients in pastry and bakery production, and incorporate new ideas into menu development and recipe creation.
Participate in menu tastings, food presentations, and special events, showcasing your pastry and bakery creations to guests and colleagues.
