Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify trends, consumer preferences, and competitive landscape within the category. Utilize insights to make informed decisions and stay ahead of market changes.
Assortment Planning: Determine the product assortment, including selection, pricing, and placement, based on consumer demand, market trends, and company objectives.
Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to negotiate favourable terms, ensure product quality, and secure competitive pricing. Continuously evaluate supplier performance and explore new partnerships.
Promotions and Marketing: Collaborate with marketing teams to develop promotional campaigns, advertising strategies, and marketing materials to drive product awareness and increase sales. Monitor campaign performance and adjust strategies as needed.
Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels, forecasts, and replenishment strategies to minimize stockouts, reduce excess inventory, and optimize supply chain efficiency.
Financial Analysis: Analyze category performance, sales data, and financial metrics to evaluate profitability, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven decisions.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams such as sales, finance, operations, and product development to align category strategies with overall business objectives and ensure effective execution.
Customer Engagement: Understand customer needs and preferences through feedback, surveys, and market research. Develop initiatives to enhance the customer experience and drive loyalty within the category.
Continuous Improvement: Monitor industry trends, competitive activities, and best practices to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement within the category management process.
Qualifications:
Bachelor\'s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field. MBA preferred.
Proven experience in category management, retail merchandising, or related roles.
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in market research, financial analysis, and data interpretation.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software applications.
