Job Description
A joinery work carpenter specializes in creating and installing finished woodwork components in buildings. Here's a breakdown of their typical responsibilities:
Reading and Interpreting Plans:
• Understand blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine project specifications and material requirements
• Plan the layout of joinery works based on building codes and measurements
Material Handling and Fabrication:
• Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and wood substitutes according to specifications
• Use hand and power tools like saws, planes, sanders, and drills for woodworking
• May operate machinery for specific joinery tasks
Joinery and Installation:
• Construct and install various joinery works such as doors, windows, staircases, cabinets, moldings, and fixtures
• Ensure all components are level, square, and securely joined
• Perform finishing touches like sanding, staining, or painting
Repair and Maintenance:
• Repair or replace damaged joinery works
• Conduct maintenance on existing wooden structures
