Job Overview

As a Carpenter in our home maintenance company, you will be responsible for performing a variety of carpentry tasks in residential settings. This includes building, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, skilled in various carpentry techniques, and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

• Construction and Installation :
• Build, install, and repair structures and fixtures such as doors, windows, cabinets, shelves, and furniture.
• Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials using hand tools and power tools.
• Install flooring, drywall, and insulation as needed.
• Repairs and Maintenance :
• Perform repairs on wooden structures, including fixing broken furniture, doors, and windows.
• Replace damaged or rotted wood in structures such as decks, porches, and frames.
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks to ensure the longevity and safety of wooden fixtures.
• Custom Projects :
• Design and construct custom furniture, cabinetry, and other wooden items based on client specifications.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and preferences, providing expert advice and solutions.
• Finish Carpentry :
• Apply finishing touches to carpentry projects, including sanding, staining, painting, and varnishing.
• Install trim, molding, and other decorative elements to enhance the appearance of interiors.
• Safety and Compliance :
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with local building codes and regulations.
• Project Management :
• Plan and manage carpentry projects, including estimating time and materials required.
• Coordinate with other tradespeople, such as plumbers and electricians, to ensure seamless project completion.
• Keep accurate records of work performed, including details of materials used and time spent on tasks.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience :
• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a carpentry apprenticeship or vocational training program preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in carpentry, preferably in a home maintenance or residential construction setting.
• Technical Skills :
• Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and carpentry equipment.
• Strong understanding of carpentry techniques, materials, and building codes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Soft Skills :
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Customer-focused attitude with a commitment to providing high-quality service.
• Physical Requirements :
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working in various environmental conditions.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
