We are seeking a compassionate and qualified Companion/Help to provide care, companionship, and assistance to an elderly mother in her own apartment. The candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and safety of the elderly client while promoting her independence and overall quality of life. The position requires a competent individual with a vocational/caring background, preferably in nursing, who can communicate effectively in French and English.
Responsibilities:
1. Care and Companionship:
Provide emotional support, companionship, and engage in meaningful conversations with the elderly mother.
Accompany the client during daily activities, such as walks, outings, and social events.
Assist with recreational activities and hobbies to stimulate mental and physical well-being.
2. Housekeeping:
Maintain a clean and organized living environment for the client.
Perform light housekeeping duties, including tidying up, dusting, and vacuuming.
Ensure cleanliness and hygiene in the client\'s personal space.
3. Laundry:
Manage the client\'s laundry needs, including washing, drying, folding, and ironing clothes and linens.
4. Meal Assistance:
Assist the client with meal preparation if required.
Ensure the client\'s dietary preferences and restrictions are respected.
5. Safety and Security:
Monitor the client\'s well-being and promptly respond to any emergencies or concerns.
Implement necessary safety precautions within the apartment to minimize risks.
Report any significant changes in the client\'s health or behaviour to the appropriate individuals.
6. Administrative Tasks:
Maintain accurate records of daily activities, observations, and any notable incidents.
Assist with basic administrative tasks, such as organizing appointments, managing schedules, and coordinating with healthcare providers if necessary.
Qualifications and Skills:
Previous experience in a vocational/caring role, ideally with a nursing background.
Fluent in French (mandatory) and basic English proficiency.
Compassionate, patient, and understanding demeanor.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Respectful of the client\'s privacy, dignity, and cultural background.
Valid driver\'s license (beneficial but not required).
Familiarity with local healthcare resources and support services.
Work Schedule:
Full-time position: Six days per week (specific schedule to be discussed).
Live-in arrangement: Accommodation provided within the client\'s apartment.
