Job Title: Deputy Resident Engineer – Construction
The Deputy Resident Engineer (Construction) will head the designated staff for all Civil Works.
He will be in charge of all works on site, including the execution of critical and aesthetically sensitive aspects of the project. He will also assist the Resident Engineer in administrative works on the project and may alternatively be required to act as Acting Resident Engineer during periods when the RE is not present at site.
Key Responsibilities
Advise the Resident Engineer in all aspects of the Contractor’s work progress, quality and contract administration, respective to their disciplines.
Supervise the performance of the Contractor and enforce the provisions of the contract.
Ensure the Contractor's plant, equipment and materials are adequate.
Review Construction Method Statement submitted by the Contractor.
Coordinate and assign work between various Engineers and Inspectors so that the work could be done in a timely manner.
Ensure the work is progressing as scheduled and is compliant with the latest drawings and specifications.
Provide clarifications on drawings and specifications as and when required by the Contractor.
Oversee the checking of Contractor's shop drawings for corrections and give/recommend approval through Structural Engineers and Site Engineers.
Oversee daily records of work progress, labor force, equipment and Contractor's performance. Submit information required and assist the Resident Engineer in the preparation of regular progress reports for submission to Client.
Inspect and approve as appropriate, the specified and/or substitute and/or ‘equal and approved’ materials submitted by the Contractor.
Candidate profile
Requirement opens for western nationals.
Education: Bachelor of Civil Engineering
Min. 15 years of experience.
Airport construction experience is mandatory.
