Job Description

The role of Credit Cards and Unsecured Lending Sales Head is a senior management level position responsible for managing a broad range of responsibilities, setting strategies for client led growth of the business, of acquisition and business development, partnership strategies, cross sell, portfolio relationship deepening etc. This role will also be responsible for managing the acquisition, deployment, partnership, portfolio deepening teams, managing teams of about 40-50 direct staff and about 400-500 direct sales non employee staff. The overall objective of this role is to develop strategy and manage implementation to increase share of market and obtain a competitive position, for a business with about $800MM of assets and Cards retail spend of about $5.5Bn.Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead strategic business development and acquisition programs that will enable the bank to acquire target market clients and increase market share, amidst a competitive market environment.
  • Utilize specialty knowledge to review, analyze, and develop beyond existing solutions, as well as develop and communicate a business plan on approaching the marketplace
  • Develop and lead strategic plans for partnership and strategic alliances towards market penetration, increasing market visibility and gaining market share
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Digital team to develop and support the Marketing and Digital Acquisition strategy as enablers to create visibility and gain market share
  • Manage the acquisition, deployment, portfolio deepening and partnerships through sales and function leaders who in turn manage these teams.
  • Manage productivity, governance and adherence to policies and regulatory expectations of all front end teams through scorecards
  • Drive high performance teams with significant emphasis on controls, surveillance, conduct reviews and regulatory expectations on ethicall selling.
  • Motivator of sales teams across team leaders and sales staff across A,B, U ranking performers
  • Improve hiring standards for sales staff continuously based on adherence to citi requirements
  • Manage critical vendor relationships of large contracts and negotiate sustainable terms balancing commercial and reputational requirements
  • Manage the team that drives cross sell and portfolio deepening through client contact and outreach
  • Work closely with the product team, Marketing, Campaign team etc. to develop campaigns and promotions
  • Ensure a Data and Analytics driven approach to strategies, decisions, campaigns etc.
  • Work closely with the Product team to influence client value proposition, positioning, segmentation, pricing, targeting, channel strategies, and competitive differentiation
  • Conduct and leverage client and competitor market research and direct and oversee all aspects of program life cycle management including market demands, technology trends, and competitive field
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
  • Cards and loans business knowledge highly recommended
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in financial services
  • 10+ years of managerial experience with emphasis on people management
  • Experience managing in a global, complex and matrixed organization
  • Working knowledge of different systems, and practices relevant to sales and control function
  • Practical experience of multiple business cycles
  • Knowledge of industry and competitor products/services
  • Knowledge of strategic direction of the business and practical/conceptual grounding in the function and/or area of expertise
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated internal and external negotiation skills
Education:
  • Bachelors degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Masters degree preferred
