JOB SUMMARY:
The Master Cake Artist is responsible for designing and decorating cakes and pastries with creativity and precision, ensuring an exceptional presentation that aligns with the bakery's standards and client expectations. This role involves using advanced decorating techniques, including sculpting, hand- painting, and intricate sugar work. The individual must collaborate with the pastry team to execute custom designs for special events such as weddings, corporate functions, and other celebrations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Custom Cake Design & Decoration:
• Conceptualize and design custom cakes based on client preferences, themes, and event requirements.
• Utilize advanced decorating techniques including piping, sculpting, fondant work, gum paste, and airbrushing.
• Create intricate sugar flowers, figurines, and other decorative elements.
• Maintain excellent handwriting using a piping bag for inscriptions in both English and Arabic.
Quality Assurance:
• Ensure that all cakes and decorations meet the company's quality and aesthetic standards.
• Conduct final checks on cakes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and client specifications are met.
Guest Consultation:
• Meet with guests to discuss cake design preferences, flavor combinations, and custom requests.
• Provide expert recommendations to clients regarding cake aesthetics, size, and design options.
Team Collaboration & Training:
• Work closely with the pastry team to coordinate cake production schedules and manage orders.
• Train and mentor junior cake decorators, ensuring the development of their skills in various decorating techniques.
Creativity & Innovation:
• Stay updated on current trends in cake decoration and baking, incorporating new techniques and styles into the bakery's offerings.
• Regularly experiment with new designs and artistic methods to enhance the creative portfolio.
Time Management & Organization:
• Manage multiple cake orders simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in cake decorating techniques such as fondant, gum paste, airbrushing, and sculpting.
Creativity: Strong artistic skills with the ability to create visually stunning and innovative cake designs.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional precision and attention to detail in cake decoration and execution.
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for client consultations and team collaboration.
Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines efficiently.
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in professional cake decorating, with a portfolio demonstrating expertise in custom cake design.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certificate or diploma in pastry arts or cake decoration.
Previous experience working in a high-end bakery or pastry shop.
Experience in sugar artistry, chocolate work, and creating edible sculptures.
