We are looking for a friendly, welcoming, and efficient Cafe Hostess to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for greeting and seating customers, managing reservations, and ensuring a positive and memorable experience from the moment guests arrive. The Cafe Hostess will work closely with the waitstaff and kitchen team to maintain a smooth flow of operations, while ensuring excellent customer service at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
• Greet and welcome customers as they enter the cafe, creating a positive first impression.
• Escort guests to their tables, ensuring they are seated comfortably.
• Manage reservations and walk-ins, ensuring efficient table management to optimize seating.
• Maintain a clean and organized host station and dining area.
• Answer phone calls, take reservations, and address customer inquiries regarding menu items, hours of operation, or special events.
• Coordinate with the waitstaff and kitchen team to ensure timely service and a smooth dining experience for customers.
• Monitor the flow of guests in the cafe, ensuring wait times are communicated and managed efficiently.
• Assist with managing the cafe's waitlist and provide customers with accurate wait time estimates.
• Provide menus, water, and any additional items as guests are seated.
• Ensure that guests' needs are met, including addressing concerns or special requests in a polite and professional manner.
• Help set up and clean dining areas before, during, and after service.
• Assist in maintaining the overall ambiance of the cafe, ensuring it remains clean, comfortable, and welcoming.
• Handle cash or process payments for to-go orders when necessary.
• Assist with special events or promotional activities as needed.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent (additional hospitality or customer service training is a plus).
• Previous experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in a cafe, restaurant, or hospitality setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Friendly, positive attitude with a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as required.
• Basic knowledge of cafe or restaurant operations is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with reservation software or POS systems.
• Multilingual skills are a plus.
• Ability to manage stressful situations with grace and professionalism.
