Job Description
The American University of Sharjah (AUS) is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Buyer to join our procurement team. This role requires a professional with a solid background in purchasing.
Job Responsibilities
1. Strategic Sourcing and Procurement
- Identify and evaluate potential vendors and suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers.
- Implement procurement strategies to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
2. Supply Chain Management
- Manage inventory levels to meet the needs of AUS.
- Work with various departments to forecast demand and ensure timely procurement.
- Develop supply chain strategies to improve performance and reduce costs.
3. Quality Control and Compliance
- Ensure procurement meets quality standards and specifications.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and compliance requirements.
- Resolve issues related to quality of goods or services.
4. Financial Management
- Analyze market trends for cost-saving opportunities.
- Manage procurement-related budgets.
- Evaluate and improve supplier performance.
5. Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs.
- Provide advice on procurement strategies and best practices.
- Facilitate effective communication between suppliers and internal teams.

- Bachelor\'s degree in business, supply chain management, law, engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
- Data analysis and market trend interpretation skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
