Key Responsibilities:
• Procurement Management: Oversee the procurement of food items, ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing from reliable suppliers.
• Supplier Relations: Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms, and product availability.
• Product Assortment: Collaborate with the Store Manager to finalize product assortment that meets market demand and enhances customer satisfaction.
• Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels and implement strategies to optimize stock levels, reduce waste, and improve turnover rates.
• Display and Merchandising: Actively participate in the display and merchandising of food products to maximize visibility and sales potential.
• Team Leadership: Support and mentor team members, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages growth and development.
• Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activity, and customer preferences.
• Sales Strategy: Assist in developing and executing sales strategies to drive revenue and enhance the grocery food category's contribution.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a Food Buyer or in a similar procurement role within the supermarket industry.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
• In-depth knowledge of food products, suppliers, and market trends.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills to assess product performance and market conditions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Proficiency in inventory management and procurement software.
