The Bus Attendant is responsible for the safety and well-being of passengers on the bus. This includes assisting passengers with boarding and alighting, ensuring that safety protocols are followed, and maintaining order on the bus. The Bus Attendant plays a critical role in providing a safe and comfortable transportation experience for all passengers. Key Responsibilities: Passenger Assistance: Assist passengers, especially young children, the elderly, and individuals with special needs, with boarding and alighting the bus. Ensure that all passengers are seated safely and seat belts are fastened where applicable. Safety Monitoring: Monitor the behavior of passengers to ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations. Report any safety concerns or incidents to the bus driver or relevant authorities immediately. Conduct regular headcounts of passengers to ensure no one is left behind. Communication and Coordination: Communicate effectively with the bus driver regarding any issues or concerns during the journey. Relay important information or instructions to passengers as needed. Coordinate with school staff, parents, or guardians regarding the transportation of students. Order Maintenance: Maintain order and discipline on the bus to ensure a safe environment for all passengers. Manage and resolve conflicts or disruptive behavior among passengers calmly and effectively. Emergency Preparedness: Be prepared to assist in case of emergencies, such as accidents or medical issues. Know and follow emergency procedures, including evacuation protocols and first aid measures. Keep emergency contact information and medical details of passengers readily available. Cleanliness and Maintenance: Ensure the bus is clean and tidy at all times. Assist in routine checks of the bus to ensure all safety equipment is functioning correctly. Qualifications and Skills: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience as a bus attendant or in a similar role is preferred. Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, empathy, and the ability to manage young children and individuals with special needs. Attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility. Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations. Basic understanding of safety regulations and protocols. Additional Requirements: Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic or other languages is an advantage. Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and late afternoons. Physical fitness to assist passengers and handle emergency situations if necessary.
