The Bulletin Producer is responsible for overseeing the production of news bulletins, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of news content to audiences. This role requires a combination of editorial judgment, production skills, and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines. During your timeslot, you will work under the direction of an Executive Producer to create and shape our news coverage. While the Executive Producer is on air, you will be the output team's leader in the newsroom, directing producers and liaising with the news desk over the development of stories. You will also deputize for the Executive Producer when appropriate.
Your key role will be to write scripts and edit the scripts of others, ensuring an accurate and distinctive voice for Sky News Arabia. You may also be required to cut pictures, direct efforts to find guests, develop graphics, and perform other tasks as needed.
Your mission will be to produce original and market-leading news output while ensuring Sky News Arabia's editorial guidelines and values are adhered to. Though your main role will be to produce news for Sky News Arabia's television news channel, you will embrace the full range of content delivery platforms, including online, and aim to develop cross-platform working practices and ideas wherever possible.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work under the direction of an Executive Producer to develop and plan the content of news bulletins, selecting stories and determining their order of presentation.
• Write and edit scripts, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to editorial standards.
• Collaborate with reporters, correspondents, and other newsroom staff to gather information and verify facts.
• Collaborate with your team's Executive Producer, producers, the news desk, and online teams to foster a unified approach to news gathering and delivery across Sky News Arabia.
• Oversee the production process of news bulletins, coordinating with technical teams to ensure smooth broadcast operations.
• Monitor live broadcasts and pre-recorded segments, making real-time decisions to address any issues or changes.
• Ensure compliance with broadcasting regulations and Sky News Arabia's editorial guidelines and values.
• Lead and manage a team of journalists, assigning tasks and providing guidance to ensure high-quality content.
• Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, encouraging creativity and innovation.
Key Skills, Experience and Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
• Proven 7 years of experience in TV news production, preferably in a similar role.
• Proven experience in a national or international broadcast news channel.
• Strong editorial judgment and knowledge of current events.
• Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in broadcast software and equipment.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Evidence of a broad range of journalistic interests including social affairs, international politics, public policy, world business and economic affairs, Sciences and the Arts.
• Fluent in both written and spoken Arabic and English.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
