OverviewFacility overview Since its inception in 2010, National Reference Laboratory (NRL) has expanded from a single standalone reference laboratory to a network of 12 state-of-the-art facilities across the United Arab Emirates. NRL provides world-class diagnostic services to the Mubadala Health network and partners with more than 250 clients from a wide range of market segments, including private and government hospitals, medical centers and clinics, corporate organizations, and other reference laboratories.Role overview The Bioinformatician is responsible for developing and implementing bioinformatics tools and systems to support genomic research and clinical applications. The role involves analyzing complex biological data, integrating solutions into clinical workflows, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The position collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to drive innovation, improve data-driven decision-making, and enhance patient-centered care.Responsibilities
Develop and optimize bioinformatics pipelines for high-throughput genomic data (e.g., NGS, multi-omics).
Perform quality control, preprocessing, and statistical analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data.
Integrate clinical and genomic datasets to support precision medicine and translational research.
Develop and maintain custom bioinformatics tools and automation pipelines.
Optimize workflows using cloud computing, HPC, and containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Nextflow).
Collaborate with IT teams to integrate bioinformatics solutions into Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
Apply statistical methods to identify significant patterns and trends.
Generate visual representations of data (graphs, charts) for communication with stakeholders.
Document methodologies and prepare reports, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Molecular Biology, or related field (Masters/Ph.D. preferred).
Experience: 2+ years in bioinformatics, familiarity with BLAST, Bioconductor, Galaxy.
Skills: Strong programming (Python, R, Perl), data analysis, and database management.
Preferred: Experience in clinical data analysis and healthcare collaboration.
