Overview:
The BBS Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) program within the organization. This role focuses on promoting safe work practices by observing employee behaviors, providing feedback, and driving safety culture improvements. The BBS Coordinator will work closely with HSE teams, supervisors, and employees to identify unsafe behaviors, coach individuals, and implement strategies to enhance safety performance across all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Develop and manage the BBS program, including conducting safety observations, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Train and coach employees, supervisors, and managers on BBS principles, observation techniques, and intervention strategies.
Conduct regular safety observations and provide constructive feedback to promote safe work practices and reduce at-risk behaviors.
Analyze BBS data to identify trends, develop action plans, and implement corrective measures to address unsafe behaviors.
Facilitate BBS meetings, workshops, and presentations to promote awareness and encourage participation across the organization.
Work with HSE teams to integrate BBS into the broader safety management system and align with company safety goals.
Develop communication materials, including posters, bulletins, and training modules, to support the BBS program.
Collaborate with department heads and supervisors to ensure consistent application of BBS principles in daily operations.
Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the BBS program, recommending improvements and adjustments as needed.
Support incident investigations by providing insights from BBS observations and contributing to root cause analysis. Education:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Behavioral Science, or a related field preferred. Certifications / Specialization / IT Skills:
Certification in Behavior-Based Safety or HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) is preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with data analysis software is advantageous. Years of Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in behavior-based safety programs or related HSE roles within the oil and gas, construction, or manufacturing industries. Technical Knowledge:
Behavior-Based Safety Principles: Understanding of BBS methodologies, observation techniques, and feedback mechanisms to drive safety culture improvements.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret safety data to identify trends, measure program effectiveness, and develop targeted interventions.
