The Role

Job Purpose The Sharjah Performing Arts Academy (SPAA) is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Barista to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee and beverages, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, and providing exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and visitors. The Barista will play a vital role in enhancing the overall experience at the academy's cafe. Duties and Responsibilities Coffee and Beverage Preparation: o Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks (espresso, cappuccino, latte, etc.), tea, artisan and speciality beverages according to standard recipes and customer preferences. o Create specialty drinks and seasonal beverages. o Ensure the consistency and quality of all beverages served. Customer Service: o Greet customers warmly and provide excellent customer service. o Take orders accurately and efficiently. o Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues in a professional manner. Cafe Maintenance: o Maintain a clean and organised work area, including coffee machines, countertops, and service and seating areas. o Follow health and safety regulations in food handling and preparation. o Regularly clean and sanitise equipment and utensils. Inventory Management: o Monitor stock levels of inventory and other supplies. o Assist in ordering and restocking inventory as needed. o Track usage and report any discrepancies. Team Collaboration: o Work closely with other staff members to ensure smooth operation of the cafe. o Assist with training new employees on cafe procedures and customer service standards. o Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive work environment.



Requirements

Knowledge and Experience Essential: o Previous experience as a Barista or in a similar role. o Strong knowledge of coffee brewing methods and techniques. o Excellent customer service and English communication skills. o Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks. o Attention to detail and commitment to quality. o Basic math skills for handling transactions. o Enthusiasm to develop your skills and knowledge. o Adaptable to change and willing to embrace new ideas and processes. o Positive and approachable manner. o Ability to work as a team and autonomously. o Ability to stand for extended periods. o Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 25kg). Desirable: o Flexibility to work carious shifts, including evenings and weekends. o Previous training as a Barista. o Experience in a cultural, arts or educational institution.
