Job Description

Bakery Chef, also known as a Pastry Chef, is responsible for creating a wide range of baked goods, including bread, pastries, cakes, cookies, and other desserts. The Bakery Chef ensures that all products meet quality standards, are produced efficiently, and are presented beautifully. They may also oversee other bakery staff, manage inventory, and ensure cleanliness and safety in the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

Baking and Production

: Prepare, bake, and present a variety of bakery items such as breads, cakes, pastries, cookies, muffins, and other desserts. Follow recipes accurately to ensure consistency in taste, texture, and appearance. Develop new recipes and innovate with seasonal or special items to enhance the bakery's offerings.

Menu Planning and Development

: Assist in the creation of bakery menus, including seasonal offerings, special promotions, and new product ideas. Ensure all items are produced within the required timelines and meet customer expectations.

Ingredient Management

: Oversee the ordering and inventory of ingredients to ensure the bakery is always stocked with fresh supplies. Maintain proper storage and handling of ingredients to prevent waste and ensure quality. Create cost-effective production plans to minimize waste while maintaining quality standards.

Team Management and Training

: Supervise and mentor junior bakery staff, including pastry cooks, bakers, and assistants. Provide training on proper baking techniques, safety protocols, and food handling procedures. Coordinate and delegate tasks to ensure smooth and efficient bakery operations.

Quality Control

: Monitor the quality of baked goods throughout production to ensure they meet the highest standards. Ensure consistency in flavor, appearance, and texture across all items produced. Inspect and maintain kitchen equipment to ensure they are functioning properly.

Health and Safety Compliance

: Adhere to food safety regulations, including proper hygiene practices, temperature control, and storage of ingredients. Ensure cleanliness and organization in the bakery, including kitchen surfaces, equipment, and workstations.

Customer Interaction

: Occasionally interact with customers to ensure satisfaction with bakery products and take feedback for improvement. Assist in creating custom orders for cakes, pastries, or other specialty items as needed.

Operational Efficiency

: Plan and organize daily production schedules to ensure all bakery items are ready for service at the appropriate times. Assist in managing the bakery's workflow during busy periods, including holiday seasons or special events.

Baking Expertise

: Deep knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and processes for a variety of baked goods.

: Ability to innovate and create unique, aesthetically pleasing, and delicious bakery items.

: Ensure all products meet high-quality standards and are presented beautifully.

Leadership and Communication

: Ability to manage a team, train junior staff, and communicate effectively within the kitchen environment.

Time Management

: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Stamina

: Ability to work long hours, stand for extended periods, and handle the physical demands of working in a busy bakery.
Education & Experience:

Education

: Culinary degree or diploma with a focus on baking and pastry arts is preferred. Additional training or certifications in advanced pastry techniques is a plus.

Experience

: 3+ years of experience in a professional bakery or pastry kitchen, including experience in a leadership or supervisory role. Experience in creating and managing bakery menus is beneficial.
Certifications (if applicable):

Food Safety Certification

: Certification in food safety and hygiene practices (e.g., ServSafe or equivalent) is often required.

Pastry or Baking Certification

: Additional certifications from culinary schools or pastry programs can be advantageous.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED3,000.00 - AED3,500.00 per month
