Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled

Automotive and Metal Fabrication Painter

to join our team. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for painting and maintaining the exterior finishes of our

skip loaders, compactors, and other vehicles

. The ideal candidate will possess experience in industrial painting, demonstrate excellent attention to detail, and ensure that all equipment is coated to the highest quality standards. This is a full-time, permanent position with an immediate start.

Key Responsibilities:

Surface Preparation:

Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, priming, and masking vehicles and metal fabrications. Ensure all surfaces are free from contaminants, rust, and damage to achieve optimal paint adhesion.

Application of Coatings:

Utilize spray guns, airless sprayers, and manual techniques to apply a variety of automotive and industrial coatings, including primers, topcoats, and specialized protective finishes to our vehicles and heavy equipment.

Quality Control:

Conduct thorough inspections of painted surfaces to identify any defects or imperfections. Ensure paint application is even, smooth, and durable, adhering to the company's high standards.

Maintenance of Equipment and Workspace:

Regularly inspect and maintain painting equipment and tools, including spray guns, compressors, and sanding machines. Ensure all equipment is in proper working order. Maintain a clean and organized painting workspace, adhering to safety protocols and operational efficiency.

Safety Compliance:

Adhere strictly to safety regulations and guidelines while handling hazardous materials, paints, solvents, and machinery. Maintain a safe and well-ventilated work environment.

Collaboration and Reporting:

Work closely with the maintenance and fabrication teams to meet production schedules and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality painted vehicles. Report progress and concerns to management regarding timelines and material needs.

Inventory Management:

Monitor and manage stock levels of paint materials, coatings, and supplies. Assist in the ordering of materials to maintain adequate inventory levels for ongoing and upcoming projects.

Preventative Maintenance:

Provide insights on how to maintain and protect the longevity of painted surfaces to prevent wear and damage from environmental factors or heavy use.

Qualifications and Skills:

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in industrial painting, particularly in painting large vehicles (skip loaders, compactors, and other industrial machinery) and metal fabrications.

Technical Proficiency:

Demonstrated expertise in various painting techniques, including spray application, airless spraying, and hand-painting. Proficient in the use of industrial-grade paint and coatings.

Attention to Detail:

Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to achieve a high-quality finish on large, complex surfaces.

Problem-Solving Abilities:

Strong analytical skills to identify and correct imperfections in the paintwork and troubleshoot challenges related to paint application or environmental factors.

Safety Awareness:

In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations related to painting, handling chemicals, and working with heavy machinery.

Physical Requirements:

The role requires the physical ability to work in a demanding environment, including lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and working with large equipment.

Communication:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and report to management on project progress.
