Job Summary:
The Automobile Electrician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the electrical systems in vehicles. This includes working on wiring, lighting, batteries, alternators, starters, and other electrical components to ensure the proper functioning of the vehicle.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnostics and Troubleshooting:
Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify electrical problems in vehicles.
Interpret diagnostic codes and electrical schematics.
Perform road tests and inspections to diagnose issues.
Repairs and Maintenance:
Repair or replace faulty wiring, fuses, switches, relays, and other electrical components.
Install and maintain electrical systems and accessories such as lights, radios, alarms, and air conditioning.
Test electrical systems and components to ensure proper functioning.
Installation:
Install new electrical systems and components in vehicles.
Upgrade existing electrical systems to meet current standards or customer requirements.
Ensure proper integration of electrical components with vehicle systems.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of diagnostics, repairs, and installations.
Provide accurate estimates for electrical repairs and communicate findings to customers.
Complete job cards and service reports.
Customer Service:
Explain electrical issues and repair needs to customers in a clear and understandable manner.
Answer customer inquiries and provide technical advice.
Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality service.
Tool and Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain diagnostic tools and electrical equipment in good working condition.
Keep the work area clean and organized.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
Stay up-to-date with industry standards and best practices.
Comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in automotive electrical systems is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience as an automobile electrician or automotive technician with a focus on electrical systems.
Mercedes Benz Experience is Mandatory.
Certifications: ASE certification in electrical/electronic systems or equivalent is preferred.
Skills:
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and electrical testing equipment.
Strong understanding of automotive electrical systems and components.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
