The Associate General Counsel for Middle East is responsible for leading and providing the day-to-day legal support to Lucid's Middle East operations, with a particular focus on the key market of Saudi Arabia. Based in our Riyadh office, the role will help establish and develop the activities of the Legal function in the region, lead the contracting process, interface with government ministries, and support Ethics & Compliance through communication and training of Lucid's standards to employees and select third parties. This challenging and fast paced position requires an individual who is a team player with strong interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to problem solve, juggle multiple projects, and adjust work accordingly to adapt to tight deadlines. Ability to speak, read and write fluently and professionally in Arabic is highly desired. Established experience as an attorney practicing in Saudi Arabia is strongly preferred. This role will report directly to the Deputy General Counsel at Lucid's HQ.
The role: Working with the Legal team at Headquarters, lead regional Legal support and grow regional Legal team alongside the business Draft, negotiating and reviewing commercial contracts, advising on discrete issues of local law, and working with outside counsel to provide top-caliber legal service to Lucid. Be primary Ethics & Compliance lead for Lucid's Middle East operations Advise business and HQ Legal on local legal requirements and applicable international legal issues Keep informed regarding pending regional changes, trends, and best practices and assess the potential impact of these changes on organizational processes Work collaboratively with other teams to identify and manage overall Legal requirements to help meet stakeholder expectations Regularly update the Legal team and Middle East Operations on general Legal workflows as needed
Requirements: Prior experience as a senior-level attorney directly advising and counseling business executives Considerable experience advising on Middle East (particularly Saudi) U.S, and international laws and regulations Deep knowledge of Saudi Arabia and Middle East business practices, and governmental operations Law degree with 12+ years of experience advising international businesses in the region Strong organizational skills Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing, in Arabic and English Demonstrated success working with other teams
