Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
• The role holder is accountable for supporting the strategic business agenda while maintaining risk and governance oversight, alongside the Private Banking ("PvB") COO Team. The person will be responsible for managing the governance forums in PvB UAE.
• As the Business Risk Management Officer in PvB, the role holder is responsible for maintaining the governance of infrastructure processes and frameworks for robust compliance and controls, e.g., CDD/AML and sanctions checks, Sales and Suitability, Fraud, Cross Border, protection of Bank and client information/assets etc


RESPONSIBILITIES

Governance & Risk Management
• Ensure there is a framework for effective management of Conduct and Operational risks across the PvB business and in compliance with applicable internal policies and external laws & regulations across our markets.
• Accountable for country roll-out and embedding of the Operational Risk Framework and Enterprise Risk Management Framework linked to PvB business to ensure appropriate focus on 'High' and 'Very High' risk issues.
• Responsible to monitor and minimize operational loss and audit failures and in conjunction with country and regional COOs, ensure appropriate focus on issues and resolutions.
• Support key Committee meetings, to ensure quality governance on infrastructure, data and operations matters.
• Work with the relevant Committees to ensure processes for products are fit for purpose and meet regulatory requirements.
• Supports the Head, Business Risk Management, Private Banking and PvB West COO to execute responsibilities as outlined in the Group Operational Risk Framework.
• (a) maintaining a strong and appropriate control environment covering PvB businesses
• (b) Restricting business if existing infrastructure and processes, capacity or capability are not fit to execute business within operational risk tolerance, regulatory standards or growth aspirations.
• Responsible to manage regulatory audit / inspections on Operations teams in country / region.
• Responsible for implementation of ORF in PvB UAE, ensuring PvB's gross and residual risk profile is well maintained in the centre. Ensuring risk acceptances are in place where required and treatment plans (both country and group level) are tracked to meet target residual risk state.
• Single point of contact to answer and update all queries and submissions relating to PvB governance for the centre.
• Ensure process maps minimize operational loss and failures ensure appropriate focus on issues and resolutions.


Functional & Business Alignment
• Maintain strong stakeholder engagement with Technology Services, CMT(s), Risk & Compliance and Group Internal Audit to ensure alignment across stakeholder groups.
• Ensure appropriate representation across the stakeholder groups in governance and delivery forums.
• Escalate appropriately to ensure the Head, Business Risk Management, Private Banking and PvB COO is updated and able to intervene as required.


Regulatory & Business Conduct
• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. • Support the PvB COO to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank's Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment.
• Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
• Drive the PvB conduct agenda globally and across regions, ensuring that Group and regulatory expectations are met across the entire PvB business.


People and Talent
• Champion and act as a role model of the Group's values and culture
• Support a change in mindset, building a culture of client centricity, agility, and accountability through standardised metrics and measurement, ensuring everyone in Operations are drivers and owners of client outcomes.

• Functional Partners including T&I, Risk, Compliance, HR, Finance, Legal, Audit, etc.

• Regulators including PRA, FCA, MAS, HKMA and other local regulators where appropriate

Risk Management
• The role holder would be responsible for adequate documentation of all perceivable risks and their mitigants with respect to all retail products underwritten as per CB credit policy. These will include Reputational Risks, Compliance Risks and Business Risks. Ensure compliance with the ERMF Framework. These risks should be reported to the CPBB Management Team.

Qualification
• Academic or Professional Education/Qualifications: As per Bank's requirements and HR policy
• Language: English and Arabic ( preffered)
