Position: Associate Dean of Education : The Associate Dean of Education serves as a chief administrator and is directly responsible to the Provost. The Associate Dean has the oversight of academic and administrative programs including development/implementation of strategic plans, allocation of resources, planning and development of curriculum, policies and procedures as well as the evaluation of results that support the current and long-range needs of the faculty and student body. Responsibilities: 1. Promotes and supports the university mission and objectives to assure institutional quality and validity. 2. Collaborates with the Provost and other academic leaders in strategic planning for accreditation reports and compliance in support of the universitys mission. 3. Provides directional leadership by assisting in developing academic action plans for short- and long-term goals. 4. Reviews, compiles, and analyzes end of course surveys for every session and presents findings to determine needed revisions, recommendations, and resources. 5. Confirms final payment submission to the Finance Department for each professor, Learning Coach, and/or doctoral candidate. 6. Collaborates with the Dean of Student Affairs to finalize student academic history reports for every term. 7. Ensures staff and student compliance with the university policies, procedures, certification, and DEAC accreditation requirements. 8. Supervises and evaluates faculty and staff in the management, delivery, and evaluation of a variety of academic programs. 9. Coordinates and assists with the review and revisions of university publications such as the Catalog and Student Handbook, Faculty Handbook, Course Development Guide, and other university publications. 10. Participates and demonstrates leadership in faculty meetings and the Professor/Learning Coach Seminar. 11. Assists with the development of proposals of new academic programs and submits such proposals for consideration by appropriate faculty committees and university administration. 12. Coordinates and facilitates committees for doctoral program admittance interviews, comprehensive exams, and dissertation proposal/defense presentations. 13. Assists in reviewing and approving new and current programs regarding curricular changes as well as all revisions and expansions of the universitys curriculum offerings and degree or certificate requirements. 14. Collaborates and communicates with university administrators regarding funding, promotional activities, and program building. 15. Provides leadership, supervision, and direction for the dissertation process and completion of doctorate requirements; appoints and oversees doctoral committee chairs. 16. Participates in collaborative governance across the university with students, staff, and faculty. 17. Monitors faculty submissions of syllabi and, if needed, mid-term and final grades. 18. Ensures the operational welfare of the college, including scheduling of classes, supervision of staff and general office functions. 19. Works with the Dean of Student Services in assigning course professors. 20. Interviews and selects individuals for staff position in cooperation with the university personnel office. 21. Establishes criteria and procedures to assure that the college and its members are fulfilling assigned responsibilities in a manner within accepted policies of the university. 22. Provides leadership and promotes competence within the faculty of the college. 23. Creates conditions conducive to the improvement of instruction and scholarly research. 24. Develops and utilizes a communications system to assure intra-college information exchange. 25. Assists in conducting research and preparing applications and proposals for recruitment and promotion of the universitys outreach. 26. Maintains practices that ensure compliance with regulations and policies. 27. Responsible for monitoring and reporting compliance. 28. Coordinates cooperative programs with other colleges and/or departments, educational institutions, government agencies, or private industry. 29. Represents the college in professional associations, accrediting agencies, government bodies, foundations, and the business community; sponsors faculty participation with various local professional organizations. 30. Participates in professional development (conferences, workshops, seminars, presentations, etc.) equal to 6 graduate credits or 90 CEUs every two years. 31. Performs other duties as assigned by the university Provost or President.
