JOB PURPOSE The Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, invites applications for full-time faculty positions at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor commencing Spring 2024-2025.

The candidate should have a Ph.D. in one of the disciplines of Environmental Health Sciences/Science with an outstanding record of academic and research performance.







MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES & EXPECTATIONS • Teach a range of core courses related to environmental health sciences in general including environmental impact assessment, vector control, advanced research methodology, and environmental health risk assessmentfor undergraduate and graduate students.
• Coordinate field training coursesfor senior undergraduate students.
• Supervise senior and graduate students in their graduation projects and dissertations.
• Actively engage in research and community service.
• Evaluate students' learning using various methods of assessments.
• Advise students on academic matters.
• Actively participate in departmental assignments and student activities as assigned by the department chair or college dean.
• Serve on department, faculty and university committees as appointed or elected.


REQUIRED SKILLS • Fluency in English at the general and professional levels is essential.


• Excellent oral and written communication skills.


• Very good computer skills (Microsoft Office applications, learning management systems).


• Excellent professional writing skills (research proposal, scientific monographs, scientific reports, etc.) and presentation skills.


• Strong interpersonal skills that can produce effective professor-student interactions.


Behavioral competencies in terms of adaptability, decisiveness, initiatives, perseverance, organizational skills, stress management and valuing profession and diversity.

QUALIFICATIONS


• The candidate should have a Ph.D. in one of the disciplines of Environmental Health Sciences.
• Minimum 3 years' experience of teaching in the field.
• Experience in teaching courses related to environmental health science and pollution control.
• Evidence of active contributions to his/her field through publishing in internationally recognized and peer-reviewed journals and participating in conferences, seminars, and other forums.
• Has experience in credit hour system.
