ASSISTANT PROFESSOR /ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN MEDIA PRODUCTION

JOB PURPOSE The Department of Mass Communication in the College of Communication at the University of Sharjah, UAE, invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor in Media Production. Applicants should have both a strong research portfolio as well as the ability to teach practice-based subjects relating to television and film production, digital media design, journalism practice and/or interactive media production. We will give priority to Arabic speakers for this position. We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and accomplished scholars with a strong commitment to teaching, research, and service. The successful candidate will join our vibrant and diverse department, contributing to the academic and professional growth of our students. The appointment will be starting in September 2025 with the new academic year. The University of Sharjah offers a very competitive package. MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES & EXPECTATIONS • The successful candidate will be able to teach in one of our programs at the undergraduate or postgraduate level.
• He/she will teach in courses in relating to media content production, interactive and digital media production, film and television, radio, or digital media design.
• The successful applicant is expected to engage in scholarly research and creative activities.
• Contribute to the department's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through teaching, research, and service.
• Will advise and mentor students in academic and career development, including research projects and internships.

Will undertake administrative responsibilities relating to academic committees, service to the university or related activities.



REQUIRED SKILLS The candidate should have:



• A Ph.D. in Mass Communication or a related field from a reputable university.
• A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience after completion of the PhD.
• A track-record of peer-reviewed publications.
• Evidence of successful teaching, advising, and service effectiveness.
• Arabic as a language will be an advantage
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to collaborative engagement within the department and university, as well as building connections with national/international professionals, businesses, and alumni.

In exceptional cases the College of Communication will consider individuals who did not meet one or more of these criteria to be appointed at the lecturer level.
