Provide clinical assistance, which results in the delivery of an efficient, quality assured and patient centered Theatre, Recovery and CSSD Services.
Assist OT Manager in developing operational policies, protocols, and guidelines to maximize utilization of resources and ensure systematic audit of such usage.
Assist department in all clinical, technical, clerical, and supportive staff in OT, Recovery and CSSD. Delegate specific duties and responsibilities to the members of your team commensurate with their experience and abilities as and when required.
Liaise with physicians, other staff, and departments to ensure proper care of patients.
Ensure that the necessary processes and procedures are in place to meet the applicable regulatory requirements for the department.
Work closely with the HOD and Imaging in the development of the services.
Assist in Preparing a variety of reports and statistics relating to service activities.
Responsible for payroll documents including those dealing with sick leave, vacation, overtime, on-call pay and related matters.
Assist in identification of areas where use of resources could be improved.
Lead and manage the administrative support provided to ensure their effective deployment and to ensure patient scheduling, records and data management, customer care etc. is delivered effectively and results in agreed KPIs being achieved.
Assist OT manager in preparation of plans for the Theatre and monitor and report on their implementation.
Design, manage and co-operate with any evaluation of the system.
Answer questions and provide information to the public; enforce applicable clinical standards, codes and regulations as required.
Organize available staff in such a way as to maximize quality patient care. Develop work schedules, on-call assignments, and other methods of assuring adequate staff coverage. Manage the scheduling of patients.
Interpret and apply departmental administrative and personnel policies.
Ensure the optimum and effective use of staff through rostering, skill mix and training.
Initiate and assist regular audit of OT, Recovery and CSSD procedures through discussion with clinical and non-clinical staff.
Take remedial action on incidents or near misses involving patients and staff according to hospital policies, protocols and guidelines working closely with OT manager. Report all incidents, accidents and emergencies and complete relevant documentation as appropriate.
Develop an orientation program for new staff in association with other registered staff.
Prioritize workload in accordance with hospital procedures and guidelines, the severity of a patient condition, clinical urgency and the direct impact on their management.
Work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that an efficient service is provided to patients.
Deal with customer / staff / patient queries in a courteous, effective and efficient manner.
Always obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) during the employment in the hospital.
Delegate professional duties to staff recognizing the professional competency of individuals.
Maintain a high level of expertise in the safe operation of the equipment and ensure that equipment is regularly checked for malfunctions. Record and report faults in a timely manner to the concerned person.
Be familiar and comply with OT, Recovery and CSSD guidelines, local rules, and Department protocols.
Be familiar with, and abide by, all Health and Safety Rules and recommendations.
Be familiar with the Hospital\'s Major Emergency Plan and Fire Plan. Cooperate fully and participate with/in all health and safety training programs.
Identify hazards, assess risks and report same as per hospital policy to relevant personnel and in accordance with individual responsibilities under all Health and Safety legislation and regulations. Report incidents of injury to yourself or others according to departmental procedures.
Familiarize yourself with current infection control procedures and adhere to Hospital Infection Control policy.
Inform the Line Manager of all untoward occurrences. Required to bring to the attention of the Head of Department any difficulties or problems encountered in the performance of your work.
Take responsibility for the general cleanliness, tidiness, and safety of the Department, with specific responsibility for your own area of work.
Participate in the grievance and disciplinary processes as required.
Be actively involved in the training and assessment of junior and new staff, always providing direct supervision and aid.
Participate in mandatory training and actively pursue Continuous Professional Development as well as maintain an up-to-date record.
Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
Collaborate in the accreditation program and ensure standards of care are met and regularly evaluated.
Maintain confidentiality of all matters pertaining to the Hospital, staff and other stakeholders. All information concerning patients and staff must not be divulged to any unauthorized person.
