The Assistant Financial Accountant will report to the Finance Manager.Middle East Finance Operations team is responsible for managing the technical accounting, transactional processing and statutory and tax compliance for all AtkinsR\xc3\xa9alis companies operating in the Middle East & Africa region, ensuring all internal and external reporting deadlines are met. The team also ensures compliance with the Standard Operating Procedures and maintains and evaluates internal control which govern the core financial processes.Responsibilities
Coordination and preparation of various returns, including financial statements and tax submissions, for a number of legal entities, under the supervision and guidance of manager;
Preparation of statutory compliance returns, including ICV and Local Content certifications;
Coordination with external consultants, including tax advisors and audit firms, and internal corporate teams for tax and finance processes;
Preparation of monthly and quarterly VAT and WHT returns for assigned statutory companies;
Preparation of periodical reports and reconciliations to be submitted to the business;
Supporting the Finance Manager on ad-hoc initiatives and analysis;
Ensuring compliance with Finance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the business;
Assisting the wider finance team with internal and external audits;
Assisting with the preparation of Financial Statements and Tax returns;
Develop strong working relationships with team members and other key stakeholders;
Seek opportunities to learn new skills and aspire to develop within the team.
Technical CompetenciesEssential
A recognised degree in finance, accounting or related subjects;
Minimum of 3 years experience within a finance/accounting environment;
Competent accountant with excellent understanding of double entry and best practices;
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel (ability to build custom models is an advantage);
Good standard of (numerical) presentation skills;
Excellent communication in English (both written and oral).
Experience of interacting with multiple teams, internal and external;
Experience of working within a multi-cultural environment;
Ability to develop strong working relationships and communicate effectively at all levels
Desirable
Some Big 4 experience as an associate or above (PwC/EY/KPMG/Deloitte);
Some exposure to preparing tax returns and statutory financial statements;
Working knowledge of JD Edwards, Hyperion Finance Management (HFM), Smart View or other information systems and databases;
