The Role
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Assistant Editor to join our dynamic editorial team in Sharjah, UAE. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the editorial process of our magazine, ensuring the content is not only engaging but also aligns with our publication's standards and vision. As an Assistant Editor, you will collaborate with writers, contribute to the editorial calendar, and help maintain high-quality content that resonates with our audience. Responsibilities: - Assist the Chief Editor in overseeing the editorial process from content creation to publication. - Review and edit articles for clarity, grammar, style, and adherence to the publication's tone and standards. - Collaborate with writers and contributors to develop content ideas and themes that align with the magazine's vision. - Conduct research to ensure the accuracy and relevance of content, providing factual support for articles. - Manage the editorial calendar, coordinating deadlines and ensuring timely publication of content. - Provide constructive feedback to writers and contributors, fostering a collaborative and positive working environment. - Proofread final drafts of articles and other materials before publication to eliminate errors and improve readability. - Stay updated on industry trends and topics relevant to the magazine's audience, suggesting new ideas for features and articles. - Assist in managing the magazine's social media presence and online content, promoting engagement with our audience. - Participate in editorial meetings to brainstorm and strategize future issues, themes, and content direction.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field. - Proven experience in editorial roles, preferably within the magazine or publishing industry. - Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with an eye for detail. - Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and publishing software. - Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a team. - A passion for storytelling and an understanding of the magazine's target audience. - Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards. - Knowledge of SEO best practices and digital marketing strategies is a plus. - Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is a significant advantage.
