The Wall Street Journal is seeking an enterprising reporter to cover the Middle East. This is an essential role in our global geopolitical coverage. Our goal is to deliver authoritative, groundbreaking coverage of the rivalries and alliances driving conflicts in and among places such as Lebanon, Israel and the occupied territories, Iran, Syria, Iraq and Yemen. Strong writing is essential to the job.The ideal candidate will have significant experience covering foreign policy, security and politics in the Middle East, as well as skills for operating in difficult places. Experience and language ability in a country such as Iran or Israel, for instance, are a necessity. You will need to be able to source deeply among the region's diplomats, politicians and policy makers. Knowledge of the global security landscape is also critical.You should have a proven ability to generate scoops and original angles off the news - high-metabolism, high-quality coverage delivered with expertise and refinement.
