Amazon Logistics aims to exceed the expectations of our customers by ensuring that their orders, no matter how large or small, are delivered as quickly, accurately, and cost effectively as possible.The Amazon Logistics team is seeking an experienced, innovative, hands on and customer obsessed Senior Design Engineer to drive standardization and innovation in physical infrastructure, layout and material flow across our Last Mile delivery network. As a member of the Design Engineering arm of the Engineering team you will be responsible for producing and refining process standards, building on current best practices for physical infrastructure and designing Amazon Logistics equipment that is used across the emerging countries network and beyond. Infrastructure you develop will always be produced to meet safety, customer experience, capacity, quality and cost goals. You will act as a key point of contact for the Design Engineering team, frequently partnering with leaders in the field, as well as other operational support functions and your WW counterparts. The core process infrastructure ownership element of this role spans Delivery Station and On-the-Road operations.This position requires strong leadership, deep customer focus, strong autonomy and exceptional project management skills. It will involve regular communication with executors and project sponsors at both the country and regional level, and requires you to be detail-oriented and comfortable partnering across functional business and technical teams. To be successful in this role, you need to pair strong analytical skills and a data-driven outlook with strong intuition.This role will be based out of Dubai and involves occasional travel to Egypt and Saudi Arabia.Key job responsibilities
Work with stakeholders to define building infrastructure requirements and calculate capacities of buildings;
Support the site selection and evaluation process by drafting test fit layouts in AutoCAD and researching building and site related information to identify any relevant issues that impact the economic or operational value of a site;
Support the preparation of specifications and technical detail to fully define the requirements on building environment, equipment, material, process and services;
Review all technical documentation such as Buildings layouts, traffic plans, flow diagrams, conveyor and equipment layouts, installation details, schedules and budgets to ensure that they meet requirements;
Active involvement in cross functional infrastructure projects, provide technical input and conduct value engineering/value analysis;
Continuous improvement of team processes, driving savings in time and cost of internal and launch activity;
Work independently or coordinate a project team that could comprise of project managers, project engineers and contractors.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- 4+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, management, or technology
- Experience working with Material handling equipment (MHE)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level
- Experience working with and managing third party vendors
- Knowledge of automated material handling systems, packaging technologies and storage solutions
