Experience in managing greenhouse operations and/or fruit production is preferred.
Knowledge of farm equipment, including irrigation systems, tractors, and harvesters commonly used in the UAE.
Knowledge of greenhouse equipment, fertigation especially hydroponics, lighting, cooling and irrigation systems.
Bachelors degree in agriculture
5+ years of experience in farm management or a related field.
Optional certification in greenhouse management, such as the Greenhouse Management Professional (GMP) certification.
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of crop production and protection practices (IPM).
Experience with budget management and financial analysis.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to agriculture.
Proficient in the use of technology and farm management software.
Job responsibilities:
Management of crop production especially fruits in Greenhouse, Net-house and open field environments
Crop Scheduling
Land Preparation
Planting, Growing & Harvesting
Processing & Packaging of all produce
Delivery of all produce from the farm
Budgeting and costing of produce related activities
Manage fertigation including hydroponics, and monitor crops produced in protected environments and open field to ensure the efficient production of crops.
Pest control measures - IPM
Irrigation systems management
Oversight of product quality control and post-harvest product management.
Field scouting, crop rotation and cover cropping
Supervision of the day-to-day time management and labor requirements
Plan and execute farm operations to ensure the efficient and profitable production of crops.
Supervise and manage staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.
Develop and manage budgets for farm operations, including expenses related to labor, equipment, and supplies.
Manage equipment maintenance and repair, ensuring that all machinery is in good working order.
Oversee the purchase of supplies, including plant material, fertilizers, pesticides, and manage inventory to ensure adequate supply levels.
Monitor market conditions and make recommendations for crop rotation and other operational decisions.
Coordinate with the sales department to ensure that crops are marketed and sold effectively.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to food safety, environmental regulations, and labor laws.
Maintain accurate records of farm operations, including crop yields, expenses, and revenues.
Collaborate with other farm managers for development and experience learning.
Main crops of interest are fruit trees (papaya, banana, mango, citrus, ..) grown in greenhouse, net house and open field
stay up-to-date on best practices and emerging technologies in agriculture such as new varieties, horticultural practices, fertigation and report on it
