Lead the preparation and structuring of bid packages for mechanical systems (HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, smoke, BMS, and others special systems for multiple projects (UAE & KSA), ensuring detailed alignment with project specifications and contract terms.
Coordinate closely with the commercial and project management teams to improve procurement cycle time and streamline material acquisition processes.
Evaluate quotations from bidders, conducting technical meetings and generating detailed compliance sheets to assess adherence to project specifications and regulatory standards
Develop responsibility matrix and compliance statements for suppliers and subcontractors to clarify scopes, responsibilities, and deliverables, promoting accountability and preventing scope gaps.
Communicate any scope or specification adjustments to stakeholders, minimizing rework and maintaining alignment with project goals.
Research and propose new technologies, materials, and systems at the design and execution stages, offering alternative solutions for cost efficiency, durability, and sustainability.
Benchmark industry innovations to introduce best practices and optimize the selection of materials, thereby improving project value.
Oversee the preparation and submission of mechanical drawings and material submittals for authority approvals, including Civil Defence, Municipalities, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
Conduct thorough reviews of material submittals and samples provided by suppliers and subcontractors to ensure adherence to project requirements, industry standards, and quality benchmarks.
Reduce rejection rates by providing pre-submission feedback and technical advice to suppliers, enhancing project timeline predictability.
Support the operations and designs team in assessing the load and weight of mechanical equipment to ensure compatibility with civil and structural design requirements.
Assist in Mechanical equipment selection, providing insights into performance, efficiency, and compatibility with the overall MEP system
Support suppliers and subcontractors in understanding project-specific requirements, enhancing equipment selection to meet operational and budgetary objectives
Develop lead time optimization strategies, including alternative sourcing or expedited approvals, to prevent delays
Thoroughly review project documentation, including tender queries, addendums, drawings, and specifications, for accurate interpretation and adherence to client expectations.
Generate technical queries as needed to clarify ambiguous requirements, ensuring clarity and precision in project execution.
Provide technical support and guidance to project engineers, designers, and technicians, promoting best practices and adherence to mechanical standards
Mentor junior engineers on technical evaluation, material selection, and compliance practices to build a knowledgeable project team.
Propose energy-saving technologies and strategies during the tendering process to enhance project sustainability and reduce operational costs for clients.
Collaborate with sustainability experts to align mechanical material choices with green building standards (LEED, Estidama, BREEAM, etc.)
Conduct risk assessments for mechanical materials and equipment, identifying potential supply chain disruptions or technical challenges
Develop contingency plans to address potential risks, including alternative suppliers, substitute materials, or adjusted project schedules
Knowledge for all UAE, KSA, and international industry standards and authority regulation (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, UAE Fire codes, SMACNA, DEWA, SEWA, ADCD, DCD, Green Building standards)
Educational Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
7 years' experience in MEP materials engineering with expertise in mechanical systems and regulatory standards in KSA and UAE
Must have strong analytical and negotiation skills
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Proficient in common contract conditions format (FIDIC, JCT, Government etc.), commercial terms, market, and supply base
Knowledgeable in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, smoke control, drainage, and BMS systems
