An Accounts Assistant is responsible for supporting the finance or accounting team with a variety of tasks that ensure smooth financial operations within an organization. Key Responsibilities:
• Bookkeeping and Record Keeping :
• Maintain accurate financial records for the company.
• Record day-to-day financial transactions in the accounting system.
• Assist with the preparation of ledgers, trial balances, and balance sheets.
• Invoice and Payment Processing :
• Process incoming and outgoing invoices.
• Ensure timely payments are made to suppliers and vendors.
• Prepare and issue sales invoices to customers.
• Manage payment reminders and follow-up on overdue accounts.
• Bank Reconciliation :
• Reconcile bank statements with company accounts.
• Ensure all transactions are accounted for and discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
• Payroll Assistance :
• Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll.
• Ensure accurate deductions, taxes, and benefits are processed in a timely manner.
• Expense Reporting :
• Review and process employee expense claims.
• Ensure compliance with company policies on expenses.
• Monitor and report on budget variances.
• Financial Reporting and Analysis :
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Assist in preparing financial statements and supporting schedules.
• VAT Returns and Tax Compliance :
• Assist with VAT or other tax returns.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and deadlines.
• Data Entry and Filing :
• Enter accounting data into spreadsheets or software programs.
• Maintain organized and accurate files for future reference or audits.
• Communication :
• Communicate with clients, vendors, and suppliers regarding accounts-related matters.
• Respond to inquiries about invoices, payments, or financial status.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Education : A degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience : Previous experience in a similar role, such as accounting or finance, is often required.
• Software Proficiency : Knowledge of accounting software Tally and MS Excel is essential.
• Attention to Detail : Must be detail-oriented and organized to manage large amounts of financial data.
• Communication Skills : Good verbal and written communication skills for dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
• Time Management : Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
