Job Summary:
The Accountant will be responsible for managing the dealership's financial transactions, from fixed payments and variable expenses to bank deposits and budgets. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team, contributing to the overall financial health and success of the dealership.
Key Responsibilities:
• Financial Transactions:
• Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
• Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct day book, supplier's ledger, customer ledger, and general ledger.
• Reconciliation:
• Conduct month-end and year-end close processes.
• Reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
• Ensure bank reconciliations are completed accurately and timely.
• Reporting:
• Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.
• Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule.
• Assist with tax audits and tax returns.
• Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
• Compliance and Control:
• Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Additional Duties:
• Support month-end and year-end close process.
• Assist in preparing dealership budget.
• Liaise with the Finance Manager and other team members to improve financial procedures.
Qualifications:
• Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Experience:
• Proven experience as an accountant, preferably within an automotive dealership.
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
• Skills:
• Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
• Familiarity with dealership management software (e.g., Reynolds and Reynolds, CDK Global).
• Strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
• Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
